approaches to tax planning may have a seriously detrimental impact on bonding capacity. Many times alternative approaches might result in the very same tax benefits without impacting bonding capacity and may even enhance that capacity. In concert with the contractor’s accounting
professionals, we seek out those alternative approaches. It is difficult
if not impossible to make changes after one’s year-end has been
finalized and taxes filed. virtually impossible to make changes after your year-end financial
statement has been finalized and issued by your Accountant. While we would never presume to try to tell any client how to conduct its affairs, virtually all of our clients and their Accountants have
expressed real appreciation and satisfaction at the manner in which
we participate in year-end planning. In addition, common sense dictates
that it is much easier to deal with questions and the acquisition and
preparation of necessary year-end data at, rather than three or four months after the close of a contractor’s financial year. Our approach encourages the timely preparation
of underwriting data and enables us to anticipate surety questions
while year-end thinking is fresh and information is readily
available.

Recognizing the increasing importance and use of the Internet, we are
continuously developing new Web related features and services, all
designed to make the handling of bond matters easier and more
efficient for our contractors. At
present, most bonding transactions can be handled over the Internet. We make heavy use of EMAIL where appropriate. At present we are working to improve our web-based services
to include client access to their Bond Line of Authority data,
surety rates including the ability to determine bond rates for
inclusion with bids and even to provide access to their King Surety accounting records.
